Dusshera is
celebrated before Diwali. The festival celebrates victory of Lord Rama over
Lanka. People burn effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnad. Dusshera is the
tenth day of the nine day long Durga Puja.
3. Navratri and Durga Pooja
This festival has different ways of celebrations in different parts of the country. In West Bengal, it is called Durga Pooja and people worship and immerse the idol of Goddess Durga. Gujarat celebrates Navratri by dancing on the tunes of folk songs worshipping the Goddess Amba. This festival is also the longest dance festival in the world that lasts for nine nights. The day after the ninth night is Dussherra.
4. Sharad Poornima
Sharad
Purnima is a full moon festival celebrated in September or October. This year,
it falls on 20th October 2021. It has special significance as people
celebrate it by feaston over Doodh Pauha. This full moon is also important in
astrological terms. It is said the full moon is at its closest point to the
earth and blesses earth with its cool light the most.
